Rezumat: | [Transylvanian Saxon Terms borrowed from Romanian and Hungarian, denoting certain objects, devices, tools, parts thereof and their mechanisms] Handicraft distinguished itself from other professions. It created its own professional language which, while being part of the general thesaurus, differentiates itself substantially from the terminology of other professions through vocabulary and the meaning of the words; it was more or less known only to and used by the relevant craftsmen. Very often the boundary between technical dialect and general language is fluid; in many cases a distinctive boundary cannot be established. Some case samples can be attributed to the general thesaurus (household and domestic enterprise), but most of them pertain to specific professions. They are mostly extracted from the thesaurus of the Northern Transylvanian Crafts Terminology Dictionary by Friedrich Krauß, but also from the Transylvanian Saxon Dictionary and Transylvanian Saxon technical literature. These borrowings are analyzed and grouped according to certain criteria. |
