Abstract: | The present analysis focuses on two contemporary texts, both Bible translations, belonging to ecclesiastics who have relatively similar views on the translation of the sacred text, though they do differ with respect to some aspects of the biblical text, its perspectives, and the translator's paratext. Following the correct understanding of the actual and concrete level of the Romanian Bible translation studies, this research tries to reveal the ways in which the translators of such a text can construct a paratext having roles and purposes by which the reader is directed and shaped. The analysis is conducted from the perspective of secular linguistics and its methods. Beyond the conclusions drawn from the analysis of the behaviors of the two translators, we believe that these two translations are texts that succeeded to provide the Romanian culture with two high-quality translations, of varying degrees of accuracy, and which attempt to structure the target text consistently with the source text. |
