Abstract: | Dimitrie Pandovici is the printer who helps metropolitan Neofit to reorganize the metropolitan typography of Bucharest in 1740. He responds to Neofit’s requests, enjoys his trust and receives the task to provide new tools for the typography in order to develop the printing process. Pandovici is first known as an engraver, working in the episcopal typography of Rîmnicu-Vîlcea, in 1730, and then, starting with 1737, as a printer. He is the organizer of several typographies: the one in Rîmnic, the metropolitan one in Bucharest and another one in Blaj. Apart from his notoriety as a printer, Pandovici is also appreciated as a talented engraver and for his poetic skills. Therefore, his artistic talent, his skills, his devotion to his work shape his profile and show him as a gifted and efficient printer of his time. |
