Abstract: | The present paper is a study on English idioms which contain words denoting parts of the body. The possible or at least probable origin and interpretation is given, as far as possible, together with parallel examples from Romanian and Hungarian, in order to underline obvious similarities or, on the contrary, surprising differences and particularities. |
