Despite of being known as the masterpiece of the Romanian Literature and as the first complete Romanian translation of the biblical text, the 1688 edition of the Holy Scripture is interpreted from a different perspective by the author of the present paper. The general enthusiasm towards this translation has been so great that a critical approach has been completely neglected. This Writing is a landmark for the cultural development of the Romanian language. By providing scientific arguments based on the Hebrew and Greek versions of the biblical text, the author of the present study argues that the Romanian translation has many flaws and, as a consequence, it cannot be used as an exegetic instrument. The translation mistakes are so severe that they sometimes change the messianic and theological meaning of some texts.
